There are several ways that the states in the U.S. can be defined and showcase each’s unique attributes, but one of the most fun and interactive ways is through food. You think you may know just what sets each state apart menu-wise, but Foursquare has recently released a list of each state’s “unique flavor”, and no, there is no Philly Cheesesteak on it.
Foursquare analyzed several data points from their app (including menus, tips, ratings and others) to see which food or drink was disproportionately popular in each state. Only two states registered drinks as their state food—we’re looking at you Nevada, with your bottle service—and as you can expect, many of the eastern states’ faves were seafood. But there are a lot of surprising choices that even an American food connoisseur may not have guessed. Keep in mind, these aren’t the most popular foods in each state: they are the most uniquely popular.
