Disney chefs and mixologists created more than 150 new food and drink options for the celebration
Walt Disney World unveiled new food and beverage options this month in coordination with its 50th anniversary celebration.
The celebration is set to last for 18 months and visitors to the park will be able to try more than 150 new menu items throughout its entirety.
Karen McClintock, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Food & Beverage Content Relations Manager, wrote on Disney Parks Blog that the items were created with the tastes of Walt Disney himself in mind.
“Walt’s personal recipes, Walt Disney World Resort attractions (past and present), beloved Disney Characters, and nostalgic dishes from 1971 were inspirations for the tasty offerings created for this anniversary celebration,” McClintock said.
Disney chefs and mixologists will continue to introduce new items inspired by Walt Disney through the duration of the park’s celebration, says McClintock.
“Disney chefs looked to Walt’s recipes from the archives while planning for the 50th anniversary celebration,” McClintock said. “The result is deliciously reimagined versions of Walt’s favorites.”
Magical Creations
The new culinary delights being offered during what Walt Disney World is calling “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” include everything from savory to sweet to options that are more adult – with a twist.
At the Magic Kingdom Park, an American-themed vanilla and chocolate sundae called “Uncle Orville Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow Sundae,” will be served with chunks of brownie pieces, hot fudge, whipped cream, and red white and blue sprinkles.
Visitors to the theme park’s Be Our Guest Restaurant, meanwhile, will be able to try an under-the-sea themed beverage called “Squid’s Revenge Drink,” — a michelada garnished with cucumber and charred octopus tail.
At Casey’s Corner, meanwhile, guests will be able to try a silk pie with a chocolate shell or a specially created hot dog/funnel cake mashup topped with strawberry bacon jam and powdered sugar.
Guests who visit Walt Disney World during the celebration are being nudged by the company to share their favorite new culinary dishes on social media using the hashtag #DisneyWorld50.
