Wireless neckband speaker makes remote work a breeze
If you’re still working remotely, and perhaps a quarter of American employees are, you probably have a routine down by now. But it could always get better. Even if you’re on a hybrid schedule and only working from home a couple days a week, you want to be comfortable and feel productive when you’re there. If that’s the case, you’re also shuffling back and forth a lot and need easily mobile technical equipment.
These needs prompted Sony to launch the SRS-NB10 wireless neckband speaker. With the proliferation of virtual meetings and increase in work phone calls among colleagues who can’t easily pop into each others’ offices, we’re using technology to make our voices heard constantly. We need clear lines of communication that don’t exhaust us.
We sure hope you’re not wearing yourself out with a heavy old-school phone receiver, but if you are, something lighter is in the offing. Even if you’re using Bluetooth-connected earphones, you might get annoyed having them in — or worse, falling out — all day. Perhaps you don’t like the look of them sticking out of your ears when you’re trying to give off an aura of professionalism. Or maybe you want to be able hear more of what’s going on around you, especially if the kids are in the next room getting into trouble.
Those situations are what the NB10 was designed for. It sits almost weightlessly on the neck, with adjustable fittings intended to sit comfortably around anyone’s shoulders. A test once you’ve connected it to Bluetooth is to listen while holding the speaker in your hand or on a surface a couple feet away then placing it around your neck. You’ll immediately notice the sound quality once it’s position. Speakers under each ear deliver wearable surround sound to pipe in music, video conferences, or phone calls without disturbing those around you.
Corresponding beam-forming microphones on either side deliver clear vocal quality to whoever you’re on with, without bringing your background noise along for the ride. Simple, intuitive buttons at the ends of the neckband allow you to mute your microphone to shush the dog or the kids and hop right back on without missing a beat, as well pause whatever you’re playing and adjust audio volume.
With a battery life of up to 20 hours, you can switch into leisure mode and pop on a movie or show with your own personal surround sound. Yes, the neckband is placed precariously close to your morning coffee and happy hour beverage, but IPX4 splash-proof design ensures spills don’t stop the music.
If you’ve been looking for something to make your work-from-home life easier, at $149.99 the NB10 wireless neckband speaker might take a weight off your shoulders.
