What does a typical day look like for a real estate agent, though? We will take a few moments to answer that question right now.
The First Part of the Day is Usually Spent on Correspondence
Most real estate agents rent office space somewhere. They will often have an administrative assistant who answers the phones for them, while they will have an office in the building where they conduct the majority of their work.
A real estate agent might come in each morning and spend a couple of hours speaking to clients. They may do so through email, text message, phone calls, or Zoom calls. They will probably discuss inventory with clients and talk to others about where they are in the home-buying or selling process.
Next Might Come Meeting Clients in the Field
Next, the real estate agent will probably go out into the field. This involves meeting with clients at properties they are looking to buy or sell.
For example, the real estate agent might meet with a family who has been getting their home ready to put on the market. The agent may look over the property and make some recommendations.
Next, they might meet up with a different client to show them a few houses in areas that interest them. The real estate agent can normally access these properties via lock boxes with keys in them. They will discuss the merits and potential drawbacks of each property.
The Day Might Wind Down with In-Office or Online Meetings
The day for the real estate agent might wind down with some in-person meetings with families or individuals in their office. They may talk about where this person or family is in the buying or selling process and what the next steps are. The real estate agent might also spend their late afternoon taking some additional phone calls or Zoom meetings.
While no two days will look exactly the same for any real estate agent, communicating with clients and showing them homes will normally take up a great deal of their time. That is why the real estate agent must be very knowledgeable about their city and the various neighborhoods in it.
They must also know all the applicable laws applying to their profession, and they must be friendly and accommodating as well. If what you are hearing sounds good to you, then getting into real estate might be a viable career path that is worth pursuing.
