The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is a vehicle that has become increasingly more popular in recent years. Not only does it have the size and rugged abilities that off-roaders prize, but it also comes in at a lower price point than several of its competitors. It is certainly worth considering if you want a larger vehicle that can challenge uneven terrain, sand, mud, or just about any other conditions you are liable to go up against.

Before looking for the ideal new Mitsubishi for sale in your price range, you should know about some of the features of the Outlander that make it so popular. We will talk about five of the most compelling ones right now.

A Better-Than-Average Powertrain

The powertrain of a vehicle is always going to be a top selling point, assuming the manufacturer made this a point of focus. That is certainly something you will see with the Outlander.

If you go with the new 2025 version, you can expect a 2.0-L four-cylinder engine. That comes standard, and it is powerful enough to get you through city streets or to send you racing along the highway. You can also hold your own on back woods trails, if it comes to that.

You get 148 horsepower and a variable automatic transmission. If you want some extra power, and you don’t mind paying a little more, you can also get one with a 2.4-L engine for a total of 168 horsepower.

A Practical But Luxurious Interior

If you want to get a larger vehicle that fits several individuals, then you want comfort as well as practicality. The Outlander delivers in this area as well.

This vehicle can comfortably fit five, and that applies to larger individuals. The two rows of seats are fabric trimmed, with some of them featuring distinctive red stitching.

There are also 60/40 split-folding rear seats, which many buyers love. This seamless cargo floor, if you enable it, lets you buy and carry a whole load or grocery items, lumber, sports equipment, or anything else you can think of for both town and country living.

You will also probably appreciate the deeper-than-most center console. You can put your valuables in there and close the lid tightly to make sure no one targets the vehicle when you park it during your shopping expeditions.

The Most Modern Connectivity in Its Class

Modern connectivity is something that has rapidly become more invaluable for the discerning motorist. You get that with the Outlander.

The seven-inch screen infotainment system is a standard feature. The screen is crystal clear and features a large suite of features that you should take some time to get to know.

You can set up the configuration in several different ways, depending on what you prioritize while you are driving. You can enjoy the smooth navigation features, improved sound system over previous models, and integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well.

What’s even better, though, is that you have physical knobs and dials. While some other vehicles and models have gone to a wholly touchscreen-focused method of adjusting the temperature and other settings, being able to use knobs and buttons gives you better control while you are driving.

That matters more than you might think. It’s ironic, but some vehicle touch screens that are there ostensibly for your convenience have been linked directly to distracted driving crashes.

That is obviously something you want to avoid. By making the controls more accessible, you’re getting improved safety with the Outlander, even as it keeps up with modern sensibilities. You’ll also want to be aware of the larger eight-inch screen that you can get with all S class models.

Driver Assist Technology

There is a large selection of safety features that some buyers cite as the main reason they went in this direction, even over more expensive options made by other manufacturers. Many of the same consumers who want a larger vehicle with more power also take their kids to and from school, sporting events, or music lessons frequently.

They like the rear seat alert that lets you know if you have left anything in the back seat when you are parking the vehicle. That’s perfect to remind you to grab your kid’s diorama that is due that day.

You also get forward collision warning that comes with automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams that can cut through the most dense fog or mist, and lane departure warnings. If you ever lose your concentration for a moment, especially in heavy traffic, you will be glad that it’s there.

You can also get optional rear-cross traffic alerts and blind spot monitoring. These will both sound an auditory alert if you are about to collide with a vehicle either behind you or one that has pulled into your blind spot without you being aware of it.

All-Wheel Control Comes Standard

Not all drivers know about all-wheel control yet, but you should. It’s a feature that gives you enhanced stability in virtually all driving conditions, even the most adverse ones.

The AWC system is standard in all Outlanders. You might have driven vehicles with all-wheel drive before, but not like this.

The handling and control are superb. Whether you are going around a curve, accelerating, or applying the brakes, you’ll note the easy smoothness of the operation. There’s no discomfort to the driver, but also to any of the passengers, regardless of where they’re sitting in the vehicle. If you want everyday driving comfort and better performance on slippery roads, this is how you get it.

Despite all these standard and extra features, you can usually find versions of the 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander for just a little over $40K. That makes it one of the most competitively-priced options that comes with all of what we’ve mentioned.

The warranty is also a key selling point, as you can get 2-3 year parts and labor, depending on the trim package. This is a strong option as your next family vehicle.
