As U.S. banks are struggling to teach their chatbots to actually “assist,” one Kazakh financial institution is already living the future. Freedom Bank, part of the NASDAQ-listed Freedom Holding Corp. (FRHC), has launched a voice-enabled AI assistant that can execute nearly 50 banking operations—making it one of the most advanced examples of artificial intelligence in finance today. And this is just the beginning.
Dream or Reality?
“Imagine it’s 2030. You’re ready to upgrade to a sleek new electric vehicle. You open your bank’s app and ask, “What’s the best car loan I can get?” Your personalized banking assistant—an intelligent, voice-enabled avatar—replies instantly: “Great idea. Based on your budget, driving habits, and family size, here are the top five EVs for you.” Immersive cards appear—photos, prices, monthly payments, and loan preapprovals—customized to your credit, cash flow, and goals. You tweak filters, compare insurance, or apply on the spot… Here in 2025, we’re not quite there yet.” This is an extract from Deloitte’s recent report, dated July 2025, based on a survey of 2,027 customers of U.S. banks.
Although AI chatbots are ubiquitous in American banking, they primarily handle routine queries and simple tasks, often disappointing clients with their limited end-to-end personal solutions, according to the survey. Well, unlike the U.S., the future is already here in Kazakhstan. Kazakh Freedom Bank, a part of Freedom Holding Corp., a NASDAQ-listed finance and technology group, has recently started to provide its clients with a completely different AI-based service.

Freedom Bank on the Edge of AI Progress
Entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan already have access to the advanced Freedom AI voice assistant in the Freedom Business mobile banking app. Through this, they can perform 49 banking operations. The new service was announced in October at the Digital Bridge Forum in Kazakhstan by Timur Turlov, founder and CEO of the holding company, Freedom Holding Corp.
Business clients of Freedom Bank can use voice commands to make transfers; deposit or withdraw funds; pay loans, fines, taxes, and employee salaries; issue invoices to contractors, and much more, and do all of this on time and according to the legal requirements. To add a little bit of a personal touch and fun, Freedom’s AI assistant speaks with Timur Turlov’s voice.
Timur Turlov believes that in an era of tremendous artificial intelligence development, the only logical path forward is to combine artificial intelligence capabilities with banking. “Essentially, we are moving towards an AI-first strategy: it’s no longer enough to be just a fintech institution. The time has come for AI banks,” Turlov noted.

The vision of Freedom Holding’s CEO is completely in line with the global trajectory of banking development, which Deloitte sees as a shift from “often frustrating chatbot interactions to more seamless, intelligent assistants.” For that, the bankers need to “stop treating chatbots as mere cost-cutting tools and start reimagining them as intelligent partners in the customer’s financial journey.”
As an AI enthusiast himself, Turlov tries to involve as many people as possible in the world of this new technology. In addition to the AI-backed voice assistant, users of the Freedom Business mobile banking app have access to ChatGPT’s advanced functionality and can use it to optimize business processes.
More Is Yet to Come
This new feature is now available to Android users. It will soon be available to iOS device owners, too.
One more step—within a few months, the AI voice assistant will be integrated into Freedom’s SuperApp for more than 3 million users and all services that the holding provides to its clients. Freedom Holding is building its own digital ecosystem, which has already integrated so many financial, technological, lifestyle, and governmental services that it is becoming increasingly difficult to navigate. “The fully-fledged digital helper will recommend the right services at the right moment, guiding the clients through complexity, and making sense of products that are often hard to understand,” Turlov explains. Thus, planning the weekly grocery shopping, booking flights, or calculating the budget will be possible only by giving a voice command.
The fully functional ChatGPT will also be available for free in the Freedom SuperApp.
“It is important to us that artificial intelligence can optimize customer inquiries as much as possible and help them quickly resolve any issues that arise,” concludes Turlov.
