In the first half of 2024, Singapore saw 26,587 scams that cost S$385.6 million. That shocking number is a clear reminder of how quickly fraud changes and how quickly DBS scam experts matter. DBS’s cutting-edge work with the Anti-Scam Center keeps customers safe before it is too late. The result: lives saved, money saved, and scammers stopped.

When DBS’s safety measures keep customers safe

You might say to yourself, “I would never fall for that.” But scammers are smart and use fear, urgency, and trust to get what they want. Think about getting a call from someone who says they work for a bank or the Monetary Authority. You stop. You think about it. And that little bit of doubt gives DBS’s Anti-Scam team a chance to step in.

Take this recent example from April 2025. A DBS customer was about to send S$100,000 because scammers tricked her into thinking she was being investigated. But DBS’s AI and anti-scam team saw the signs and took action. The money never left her account, so there was no crisis.

This one story shows how DBS’s safety measures protect customers every day. The digital defenders are watching and will act quickly if you don’t.

Teamwork and technology: the heroes behind the scenes

There is a mix of smart technology and hard-working people behind every intervention. In the middle of 2023, a joint operation with the Anti-Scam Centre sent out more than 4,600 text messages in just one month. These messages reached more than 3,900 possible victims and stopped more than S$21 million in scam losses. That is not just technology; it is a layered defense that includes quick detection, automatic alerts, and people following up.

And it is not just in the area. In two scam cases involving government impersonation in early 2024, DBS and the Police, in collaboration with UOB, recovered more than S$3 million. In another case, DBS, the Singpass Anti-Fraud Team, and ASC stopped S$820,000 in its tracks

These efforts show that DBS’s safety measures protect customers not only through systems but also through real, trained staff who are ready to act.

Tools that give you power, not just DBS

You have power. You can control your digital safety with DBS’s Security Checkup dashboard, which lets you check and improve settings whenever you want.

A new anti-malware feature even stops you from getting into your digibank if it thinks your device has malware on it or if someone is screen-sharing to steal your login information.

In May, DBS added a “Mobile wallets” switch to its Payment Controls. It makes sure that scammers cannot add your DBS card to mobile wallets unless you let them do so.

DBS is giving you the tools you need to join the defense with these tools.

Scammers change their tactics, but DBS keeps up

Scammers change their plans quickly. The bank may sometimes put in place measures that slow down transactions, but they are meant to stop scams, not make things harder for you. In 2022, when SMS phishing campaigns were on the rise, DBS announced temporary delays that stopped more than 600 scam attempts and got back S$173,000.

At first, these changes might seem like a hassle. But they show that DBS scam changes with the scammers, always trying to stay one step ahead.
