Elon Musk is truly from another planet when it comes to innovation. For a mind to manifest the greatness of Tesla, SpaceX, and the Boring Company is accomplishment worthy of praise. His ability to pull success towards him places him with the great businessmen like Henry Ford.
He is a regular feature in the news—whether it’s about a new SpaceX rocket launch or a new Tesla model unveiling. Last year he continued to work by supplying solar energy to Puerto Rico, building the world’s largest battery in South Australia, and launching a recycled Falcon 9 rocket, just to name a few.
This Elon Musk timeline shows his most popular business decisions based on Google search traffic.
In the midst of his professional achievements, it was his personal life that garnered the most attention. Musk and Heard let the world know they were together through an Instagram post and have been on and off ever since.
The jump in interest following Heard’s relationship news is rivaled only by the 2013 announcement of the Hyperloop. Musk shared his concept for the long hyped high-speed mass transit system, which was revealed in a 57-page PDF document. According to the designs, the Hyperloop would be capable of transporting passengers at nearly 800 miles an hour—enabling riders to get from San Francisco to Los Angeles in about 30 minutes.
The Hyperloop Alpha is closer to reality than ever before as Richard Branson has stepped in and become part of the operation. Branson’s investment and expertise beat out others vying to join Musk’s Hyperloop Alpha team and will accelerate the high-speed concept like never before.
The Falcon 9 successfully landed on a ship at sea and, in more recent years, SpaceX has launched the world’s first reusable rocket. This brings the SpaceX team one step closer to their mission of drastically reducing the cost of space travel.
Last year Musk also announced one of his most ambitious plans yet—the colonization of planets and satellites beyond Earth, including the establishment of a lunar base and a permanent Mars colony by 2022. This was a popular statement on the Elon Musk timeline as other entities were still bashful about the thought of manned Mars missions. Speaking at the International Congress in Adeleine, Musk announced he plans to create a rocket bigger than an A380 plane to send people to Mars, and to eventually grow a substantial population on the martian planet.
And the Elon Musk timeline wouldn’t be complete without the Zuckerberg call out, where he tweeted that the Facebook’s founder had a limited understanding of artificial intelligence. Zuckerberg pointed out some of the ways in which he believes AI can save human lives, such as helping to enhance the safety of self-driving cars and to diagnose medical conditions.
However, Musk has been warning for years about the risk posed by AI, most recently telling governors that they need to start regulating artificial intelligence. After Musk dropped his dig at Zuckerberg on Twitter, thousands of retweets and likes followed.
Elon Musk could have cashed out and retired after he created PayPal, so why is he choosing to work? The modern day polymath is driven by his vision to change the world and improve the quality of life for humanity.
