In the workplace, most of us will face problems of one kind or another everyday. Some of these will be minute and totally inconsequential whilst others may be causing serious damage to company performance. If you are running a marketing team or similar it is likely that your remit will involve solving problems and coming up with more efficient ways of working. Below we discuss four of the most common problems workers face and how DAM software can address and resolve these issues.
Cannot access latest company imagery
Are you creating a banner or piece of marketing material for your business? If so you will want to include the latest company branding. But what if you can’t find it? Without a Digital Asset Management tool in place it can be unclear as to who has responsibility for managing specific company approved images, photos and even music files etc. This can cause delay in production or worse, individual’s using outdated or unapproved material.
Files being lost
As marketing content and material needs to be constantly updated, there is the danger that files can get lost over time. This is especially true if the files are not stored in a central repository, as would be the case by using a Digital Asset Management system. Whilst using basic sharing options, such as Google Drive may provide storage, they are not comparable with the asset management features you get from DAM software.
Slow roll out of rebranded material
Imagine a company has undergone a full rebrand and has invested thousands of dollars in producing brand new company images, photos and videos. They then need to roll these out to various departments and teams but all at different stages. Without a DAM system in place, the company would be relying on conventional means of distributing content, such as email or sharing via dropbox. However by using DAM, the files are fully secure and you can choose who can access what and when. Users can even self-serve, thus removing the need to keep constantly updating teams with fresh material.
Creating everything from scratch
Another problem a DAM tool solves is it gives users a complete overview of all the company assets that have ever been uploaded. This means if a user needs a new asset making they may be able to repurpose an existing asset (rather than getting the creative team or resource to make a new one from scratch each time). Moreover, there may be a suitable asset within the DAM already, removing the need to create a brand new asset altogether.
Not maintaining brand consistency
Using a DAM system solves the issue of brand inconsistency as all approved branded material can be stored in the cloud. With control over permissions and access rights, administrators have complete control themselves over what files are uploaded and who can download them. This avoids users deviating from using approved company material when producing new creatives.
