Restaurant initially teased the Cilantro Soap on its Instagram earlier this year
Chipotle is dipping its toes into the bodywash industry. The Mexican food restaurant announced it was making Cilantro flavored bars of soap available for purchase last week — and they are already sold out.

“Made with real ingredients, this 100% real soap bar is the perfect gift for cilantro lovers and haters alike. Just make sure they don’t eat it,” reads the soap’s description on Chipotle’s web store.
The Cilantro Soap bar contains saponified organic oils, including olive, coconut, flaxseed, and shea, as well as coriander essential oil and chlorella powder, according to its ingredients list.
The company was selling the 4 oz soap bar for $8.
Chipotle says that cilantro, which it uses in several of its menu items, has been debated by customers who tend to either love or hate the green herb.
The company ignited conversation when it posted a mockup of a Cilantro Soap package on its Instagram account back in August — ultimately deciding to bring the idea to life.
“Our Cilantro Soap plays into a larger trend of turning digital moments into real life experiences,” said Chris Brandt, Chief Marketing Officer, in a statement. “Every Chipotle fan, regardless of which side of the great cilantro debate they’re on, can appreciate this fan-inspired gift.”
Chipotle previously entered itself into the cilantro debate by tweeting “Not liking cilantro is something you should try keeping to yourself,” back in July.
In addition to the Cilantro Soap, the company also recently released a new Iron color scheme for its Chipotle-branded apparel, Chipotle Goods Avocado Dye Line.
