Under Cascade’s rebrand, remediation and its other environmental services are able to shine.
The environmental industry has changed drastically in the last 25 years. A quarter of a century ago, the “Drilling” portion of Cascade Drilling’s name fit quite well. Today, the company has evolved beyond drilling into a full-service environmental services company to fit the ever-changing marketplace.
While drilling remains a large part of what they do, the name “Cascade Drilling” no longer fits the scope of the business, which encompasses not only environmental and geotechnical drilling, but also environmental investigation, site characterization, site remediation, and investigation-derived waste management.
These services, complemented by dozens more, round out the newly monikered “Cascade” with two divisions: drilling and the new technical services division.
“We wanted to provide a place for the technical services group to create an identity based on the non-drilling work we do,” shared Tim Smith, CEO and President of Cascade. “We’ve already rolled out to the market with a new logo and new name branding.
“The new website will launch at the end of this year to reflect the two new divisions. The work ahead of us really is educating the industry on who we are and what we do.”
Smith sees Cascade as a relatively young company, with the senior team of the last five years taking the company to new heights. But the key to the success of these new strategies and goals is simple.
“It comes down to having the right people, the right vision, and the willingness to change with the industry,” he said.
A Foundation in Sustainability
Cascade is one of the leaders in the space when it comes to change for the betterment of the Earth: sustainable practices. The majority of projects Cascade participates in focus on improving environmental conditions through the cleanup of harmful contaminants, restoring property for beneficial use, or improving valuable infrastructure.
“Sustainability is the nature of this business,” shared Todd Marti, Vice President of Sales.
The company is the first in its space to publish an annual sustainability report in accordance with internationally-recognized standards from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Cascade already had a great program that incorporated the goal of sustainability into its company culture, and its annual report is a great way for the business to share its progress.
Several different components and strategies make up Cascade’s sustainability efforts, but two approaches in particular push the company ahead of the pack.
Through the use of high-resolution site characterization (HRSC) technology, Cascade is able to help clients build accurate conceptual site models of the contaminant zone. 3D visual data allows the company and clients to best apply the tech, sometimes in a combined remedy approach to more efficiently remediate the site.
The result? Customers reach their remediation goals in far less time and for less money.
Cascade also utilizes sonic drilling procedures that reduce waste generation on a site. This approach to drilling is much faster than conventional drilling methods, again saving the customer both time and money.
These are just two of the many sustainability initiatives Cascade has in place: the company also participates in sustainable remediation forums, is planning a fuel consumption and conservation strategy to reduce CO2 emissions, and has a volunteer Green Team that actively learns about and applies new sustainable approaches to both their jobs and everyday lives.
“The industry has changed drastically over the last 25 years,” Smith reiterated. “We have been adaptive, especially through the last five years—it’s a company and culture that evolves with the industry.”
“We’re unrivaled in our sector. Our environmental services and our sustainability goals keep us honest, and our people and tech are the differentiators on every strategy, decision, and project.”
Cascade is the only national company that provides this array of services, the tech is above and beyond anything you’ll see elsewhere in the industry; in short, Cascade holds a unique, influential position in the marketplace.
