Whopper deal available to Burger King Royal Perks subscribers
Burger King is selling its classic Whopper sandwich for its original price from 1957 this weekend, in commemoration of the burgers 64th birthday.
The Whopper will be available for a paltry 37 cents at Burger King locations nationwide on Friday and Saturday, however the discounted rate will only be available to members of Burger King Royal Perks.
“In 1957, Burger King changed the game with the introduction of the Whopper sandwich – an iconic, flame-grilled burger prepared YOUR way (with 1,024 potential combinations, to be exact),” said Zahra Nurani, Burger King North America’s head of marketing communications, in a statement. “And now, 64 years later, we’re excited to celebrate our beloved burger by offering The Whopper for its original price of 37 cents exclusively to Royal Perks members.”
Burger King’s signature sandwich quickly rose in popularity after its debut, with customers clamoring to get their hands on its flame-grilled beef patty and host of fixings in between a sesame seed bun.
The fast-food chain developed its Burger King Royal Perks program earlier this year as a loyalty program for its customers that allows them to earn rewards for making purchases.
“It feels like we’ve just accepted what brands have told us is possible with loyalty programs over the years, so as we started working on Royal Perks, it was easy, let’s do what the others don’t,” said Ellie Doty, chief marketing officer of Burger King, North America, in a February news release. “To make sure we get it right, we’re testing, learning and solving this year.”
Burger King has said it is also doubling down on its commitment to serving “real food” to its customers, promising to permanently ban 120 different artificial ingredients from their menu.
“For years Burger King has been paving the way to a Real menu with the same flame-grilled flavors you crave,” the company said on its website. “Thousands visit BK restaurants, and to those thousands, we promise to actively evaluate how our food is prepared and strive to eliminate the use of colors, flavors, and preservatives from artificial sources, wherever possible, that compromise the realness of your BK faves.”
