Those in the finance sector must comply with rigorous regulatory hurdles. However, fulfilling these legal obligations can also serve as a distinct selling point that separates a company from competitors. When a business handles other people’s money, it must be completely transparent and develop a reputation for reliability and integrity.
1. Build Trust
PwC’s 2024 Trust Survey found that 93% of business executives say keeping trust with customers and stakeholders improves revenue. When brands avoid regulation penalties, they can focus on building a reputation for excellence.
Share that the company is in compliance as a push for data safety. In a world where people’s personal data gets compromised regularly, knowing a company is doing all it can to prevent breaches can make a huge difference in the customer experience (CE).
2. Reduce Errors
Companies can incur costly penalties if they don’t comply with regulations. However, when they do, they reserve those funds for marketing and lead generation. Create checks and balances so records are accurate.
Brands can also better predict user behavior and come up with offers most attractive to their audience when they have correct inputs from which to run reports.
3. Avoid Regulatory Issues
In 2023, the SEC assessed around $5 billion in SEC penalties. More companies are investing in compliance software to ensure they don’t miss any critical components in the process. It’s nearly impossible for someone to seek all the inaccuracies without the help of a machine.
Regulatory issues can slow company growth, cost money and eat up precious time that could be better spent on customer relationships. Today’s artificial intelligence (AI) models have become so advanced that they can run in the background, alerting leaders when there’s a problem or patterns seem off.
4. Expand Customer Base
Complying with regulations helps open up new markets. Other businesses and even individuals will often look for a brand that complies with specific regulatory requirements. Depending on the location of a firm, a company may need to assess its status with both federal and local entities.
In addition to building trust and opening doors, as they seek compliance, companies also meet others through networks and groups who can spur revenue growth. Brands can use their compliance as a selling point to show why people should prefer their firm over any other.
5. Keep Up With Changing Technologies
Experts predict AI will become a bigger part of everyday life. Bank of America announced in July 2022, they had around one billion digital logins. It’s impossible for a small team of workers to keep that many accounts secure. However, with the assistance of software and machine learning, they can train programs to look for patterns and spot anomalies.
AI can recognize weaknesses in the system and ensure companies comply with rules and best practices on autopilot. Imagine a customer trying to decide where to place their savings. They want assurance it’s safe and the financial institution takes every measure to protect their personal data.
6. Develop Partnerships
Staying in compliance allows brands to open doors and develop partnerships. Some companies require certain measures before agreeing to add their name to a promotion. After all, when doing a joint promotion or recommending another brand, the business puts its good name at stake.
Building name recognition and an excellent reputation ensures other brands want to work with a company. Partnerships offer competitive advantages such as adding a well-known name to a promotion or sharing mailing lists and leads.
Large corporations may be more willing to invest with a company that took the necessary steps to meet regulatory demands.
Compliance Takes Effort But Brings Big Benefits
Seeking compliance may be mandatory for some industries. Other brands might choose to seek certification for their brand reputation and marketing purposes. Meeting rigorous rules makes an organization stand out from the competition. While fulfilling all the obligations takes time and effort, the benefits outweigh the requirements. Find new partnerships, impress clients and ensure the company is at the top of its game and has the best reputation in the industry.
